Fire Inspections

Fire Inspections are required bi-annually for all commercial businesses, and annually for manufacturing or industrial locations, places of assembly, schools, daycares, assisted living centers, and foster care homes.

Common Fire Code Violations 

  • 505.1 - Address not provided or readable from the street.
  • 503.4 - Fire lanes must be kept clear and identified.
  • 506.1 - Knox box is required.
  • 912.4.1 - Locking caps missing from Fire Department Connections.
  • 703.1 - Not properly repairing holes, damage, or breakage of walls, ceilings, or other firestop systems.
  • 604.3 - Working space of 30" in front of electrical panels not maintained.
  • 604.4 - Multiplug adapters must have a fuse and meet NFPA 70 standards.
  • 901.6 - Fire detection, alarm systems, and fire-extinguishing systems must be inspected annually.
  • 906.5 - Fire extinguishers must be placed in conspicuous locations.
  • 906.6 - Fire extinguishers must be unobstructed and unobscured.
  • 906.7 - Fire extinguishers must be installed on a bracket, hanger, or extinguisher cabinet.
