Tonight between 8:30 and 9:00 p.m., KPD officers responded to a reported abduction attempt at Sonora Park. Two children, aged 5 and 8, were approached at the playground by two suspects who attempted to persuade them to leave the park. The attempt was unsuccessful and the suspects left in a vehicle described as a dark-colored truck or SUV, possibly a GM product. The suspects, a white male and white female, were dressed in camouflage and left toward New Hope Road. The report is still under investigation, but parents are cautioned to watch their children closely while using any public park. New information will be released if and when it is obtained.
