01/26 - Possession of Marijuana - 5600 block of Hwy. 820 North: At 8:17 p.m. an officer observed a suspicious vehicle parked beside a convenience store. Due to recent beer thefts from the location, the officer checked the license plate on the vehicle. The vehicle license had warrants attached out of Fort Worth. As the vehicle left the property, it headed onto I-20/Loop 820 from Kennedale Parkway. Once stopped, the officer identified the sole occupant/operator as the male wanted for the Fort Worth warrants. The operator smelled of alcohol but did not appear intoxicated. There was a cold 24 oz. can of beer under the front seat of the vehicle. In addition, he was on parole out of Nevada for murder. The operator was arrested for the warrants and was transported to Mansfield for booking. While being searched incident to book-in, a baggie of marijuana was found in his jacket pocket. He was charged with the narcotics as well.
01/28 - Leaving the Scene of an Accident - 800 block of Bowman Springs Road: At 4:54 p.m. officers were dispatched to an accident. The reporting person stated that one of the drivers, a female, had fled the scene on foot, leaving her damaged black Ford Taurus behind. On arrival the officers located identifying items in the vehicle to lead them to the missing driver. After clearing the scene of the accident, the investigating officer was dispatched to the Fire Department to meet with the female suspect. The suspect stated that she ran because she had no insurance and was scared. She was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to identify at an accident, and failure to maintain financial responsibility.
01/30 - Vehicle Burglary -- 1200 block of Kennedale Parkway: At 1:28 p.m. an officer responded to a report of stolen car keys. A victim reported that he went into a convenience store to make a purchase. The victim left his car keys in the ignition. The keys were gone but the car was still present when he came out. The victim gave the officer possible suspect information.
01/31 - Theft $1,500 to $20,000 - 1200 block of Kennedale Parkway: At 7:52 p.m. a victim reported to an officer that her purse was stolen while she pumped gas into her car. The victim stated that the theft was witnessed by a third person who was present. The witness stated that a male got out of a small 2 door vehicle and removed the victim's purse out of the front seat. The purse contained, among other items, the victim's $4,500 wedding ring set. Officers were able to recover possible suspect fingerprints form the vehicle door.
