CERTIFIED TCOLE LICENSED OFFICERS WILL COMPLETE A MODIFIED FIELD TRAINING PROGRAM!
If you are already licensed with service time, we probably don't need to teach you the job in the same manner as a recruit straight out of the academy. Therefore, TCOLE certified officers may qualify for a modified, 7-week training program to learn the Kennedale way of policing and the service expectations of our community!
WE MAY BE A SMALL AGENCY, BUT YOU WILL GET TOP QUALITy EQUIPMENT and lot's of training!
Equipment- You will be given all the equipment you will need- and then some!
In addition to standard duty gear, weapons, uniforms, and boots, you will also be issued a set of specialized ballistic equipment in addition to your standard body armor.
There are also a variety of less lethal options available to all officers with even more coming online in the near future. We are always looking for better force options for the types of situations we encounter.
And, when you need something replaced, you won’t have to go through a long and arduous process to get it. We get you what you need as soon as possible!
Training, training, and more training- We want our officers to receive the latest and the best training available!
Because we are a small agency, we can afford to send our Patrol Officers, Detectives, Sergeants, and School Resource Officers to advanced schools that are hard to come by in larger agencies that have to try to spread training opportunities around. We require our officers to attend at least four hours of training a month, either in house or through local training providers.
Our officers begin intermediate courses as soon as they can after field training. Our Detectives are sent throughout the state to receive the best training possible. Our Sergeants and Corporals are expected to attend leadership courses and supervisor schools whenever available.
If you are a Corporal, you are also expected to be a certified TCOLE instructor and help teach the various classes we host regularly- from ALERRT to defensive tactics. If you are not a certified instructor already, we will send you to the first certification course we can find.
Additionally, we want you to be patrol rifle certified as soon as possible and have quarterly firearms practice sessions to help you excel during qualifications!
We even have our own training simulator!
We believe that a well-equipped & highly trained officer is critical to the delivery of police service to our community!
ON AVERAGE, OUR OFFICERS RECEIVE OVER 120 HOURS OF TRAINING PER YEAR!
OUR COMMUNITY SUPPORTS US!
Being a small agency gives us an opportunity to be a part of our great community while having our own department family. We host and participate in events in our city all year long and also come together for all kinds of team and camaraderie building occasions! Here are just a few pictures of the great times we enjoy being part of the Kennedale PD team:
