  1. 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing Celebration

    July 20, 2019, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Kennedale Public Library

Join us as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of man's first steps on the moon.

Apollo 11 blasted off on July 16, 1969, carrying astronauts Neil Armstrong, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, and Michael Collins. Four days later, Armstrong and Aldrin landed on the moon in the "Eagle" Lunar Module. On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first human to step foot on the moon. He and Aldrin walked around for three hours conducting experiments and collecting moon dirt and rocks. They left behind a U.S. flag and a sign that said: "Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the moon July 1969, A.D. We came in peace for all mankind." On July 24, 1969, all three astronauts returned to Earth safely.
