KENNEDALE PUBLIC LIBRARY CLOSED: MONDAY, MARCH 16 THROUGH THURSDAY, APRIL 30, 2020

POSTED FRIDAY, MARCH 13, 2020

To Our Patrons,

Rest assured that, as of the date of this notice, there have been no cases of COVID-19 involving the Kennedale Public Library. However, staff is committed to balancing the protection of public health with our community’s need to access resources in this challenging time.

Following the issuance today of a “State of Disaster” by the State of Texas and a “Declaration of Local Disaster Due to Health Emergency” (PDF) by Tarrant County, effective Monday, March 16, 2020, the Kennedale Public Library will be closed, all programming will be suspended, and private event reservations will not be available through Thursday, April 30, 2020.

The Kennedale Senior Center will also be closed for the same time period. If you or your organization has booked either the Community Center or the Senior Center for an upcoming event, staff will reach out directly with information and options.

At this time, staff is not aware of any changes by Tarrant County Elections to upcoming election dates, including the runoffs for the Primaries. If and when changes in election dates or procedures might be announced, the City of Kennedale will work to inform the community.

The City of Kennedale will continue to reassess service levels at all facilities during the coming weeks. The community is encouraged to monitor the City’s online presence for current information in this rapidly changing environment:

Although the facility will be closed, staff will be available to respond during normal business hours (Tuesday – Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Closed Sunday and Monday). Call 817-985-2136 or email Library Director Amanda King if you have questions or need assistance with anything.

For instance, maybe you’ve never accessed our digital catalogs like Hoopla (more information below), Overdrive, or TexShare. Hoopla alone has more than 500,000 free CDs, movies, comic books, eBooks, TV shows, and audiobooks that you can borrow from the comfort of your own home using your smart device and library card. Staff will gladly walk you through the process of logging in and finding what you’re looking for. Just give us a call.
