Place 2: Dr. Elizabeth “Liz” A. Carrington

My family moved to Kennedale from Arlington 14 years ago because we liked the small town feel and great schools. Our son has special needs and we felt more comfortable having him in a small school district where he wouldn’t get lost in the shuffle.

I graduated from Texas Christian University with a BS in Biology and minor in Chemistry. I graduated from Southern Methodist University with a doctorate in molecular biology and developmental genetics. After my post-doctoral work at Southwestern Medical School, I joined Tarrant County College, SE Campus where I have been a professor of Biology and course coordinator for our microbiology for the past twenty years.

After moving to Kennedale, I wanted to give back to my community. I originally served on the Parks and Recreation Board . In that capacity, we were able to work with park planners to develop Rogers Farm Park, TownCenter Park, and renovate Sonora Park.

I’ve served on City Council since 2008, and it has been rewarding and exciting to see the improvements throughout the city since we moved here. New streets, homes, parks, and businesses have enhanced the quality of life for all Kennedale residents.

Progress is slow and redevelopment is difficult, but having long-term plans in place ensures that the city develops at a steady, sustainable pace. It is a privilege and honor to serve the residents of our great city.
