In 2013, MTUs were installed on all City of Kennedale water meters to send usage data electronically, eliminating the need for staff to manually read meters each month. The originally installed MTU model was recalled by the manufacturer (Aclara) because it sometimes dropped the last two digits of the usage numbers. All MTUs were replaced (at no cost to the city of residents) in 2016.
